Beginning Finishing
Sarah Peasley $75
Feb 1, 29 March 7, 14, 21 Fridays 1:30-3:30
This is a VERY basic finishing class, designed to make you more comfortable with the most basic finishing techniques necessary in order to make your knitted pieces come together into a beautiful finished product. I’ve had more than one student tell me that after taking this class, they wanted to take apart everything they had ever knitted and put it back together using the techniques they learned!
Materials:
Pattern included in class fee
Yarn – 125 (150, 200, 250) grams of a light color, worsted weight yarn, for 22" (24", 26", 28") circumference. The light color will allow you to clearly see your stitches. Worsted weight yarn usually knits to a gauge of between 4.75 and 5 stitches to the inch. I recommend that you use wool for this class. The stitches will be easier to see and to work with, and you will be able to block your finished knitting. If you don’t like to work with pure wool, try a superwash wool or a wool blend.
Needles – U.S. size 5 (3.75 mm) and U.S. size 7 (4.5 mm), but bring everything you have in case you want to adjust the needle size.

100 – 150 grams of washable yarn. You can use anything from fingering to bulky. We’ve had lots of students either use Socks That Rock heavy weight (1 skein makes 2 pairs of average size short socks) or Debbie Bliss Cashmerino chunky (3 balls makes an average pair of socks).
Bring double point needles smaller than recommended for your yarn. Lynn recommends bringing any double points you have so you can have some options in class.

Estonian Lace patterns are quite unique and often are very 3-dimensional.
The Estonian Potpourri Shawl consists of 3 Log Cabin blocks, each containing 9 different lace patterns, 27 in all, plus a border and an optional snowflake pattern. The classes will cover Log Cabin construction plus tips and techniques for each of the different Estonian lace patterns
In each class, students will make a sample swatch of the next 2 to 4 lace patterns to master new stitches and techniques. They will then be prepared to complete those sections of the actual shawl.

EZ- Fit Hat
Rae $30
Feb 9 & 23 Saturdays 3:00-5:00
This is my favorite hat ever! Choose any yarn you like and knit a hat with a side to side brim. The hat is sized as you go for a perfect fit every time! Then the brim is doubled over to add extra warmth for the face & ears. The crown of the hat is picked up and knit during the second class. This is a great opportunity to use that yarn you’ve been drooling over, but didn’t know what to knit with it…
Materials:
Pattern included in class fee
Approx. 100 gm of a soft yarn. I’ve knit these in lots of yarns, I particularly like Top Print, CPY Taos, and STR heavy weight. I think a dk to chunky weight makes a nice hat.
16” circular & double points in a size appropriate for your yarn.
Basic Knitting Notions
If you are knitting these as gifts I recommend trying to find a way to measure the circumference of the giftee’s head. There is tons of stretch in these hats, but it’s nice to know an exact size to aim for.
